Draft. A- Coffee, milk, cocoa, roasty, malty, mocha. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Coffee, milky, cocoa, roasty, malty, slightly bitter, slightly sweet, mocha. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, coffee finish. O- I’ve heard Comrade was one of the better newer breweries in the Denver area. I wanted to go by the taproom but didn’t get a chance so jumped on it when I saw this on tap at a restaurant. Glad I did. What a damn good beer it is. Lots of coffee, mocha, and a milky taste. The aroma is the same. It’s very balanced and makes me even want this to be a breakfast beer from now on. Excellent all around.

On tap @ the brewery. Pours a dark reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Burnt roasty malty, charred coffee, mild cream/milk, chocolate aroma. Carbonation is a bit low. Fairly high bitterness. Roasty and burnt flavor. Some vanilla. Eh.

Tap at the brewery - I generally dislike Kaladi Coffee - I find them to be one of the most overrated coffee shops in all of Denver - however, if you buy their beans yourself and use them right, you can produce a decent cup of coffee - these guys have done a fair job - the nose is pretty much all coffee - there is a strong cream sweetness, too - kind of smells like Cuban coffee - not a lot of strong acidity in the nose, like most brewers tend to extract when using coffee, so okay so far - flavor is very sweet, with moderate coffee character - kind of too sweet for my tastes, but this does serve to temper some of the bright acidity that arrives later - the body is fairly thin and the finish is kind of sugary, but this is a decent coffee beer.
