Bottle at Hix Mayfair. It pours deep brown - black with a thick, foamy beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, roasted malt, treacle, salty, savoury vibe and dark fruits. The taste is pretty sweet and juicy upfront, dark fruits, jam, treacle, roasted malt, cocoa, light alcohol and salted seawater action with a smooth finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Really pretty flavoursome and well-put together. Good example of the style.

Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Clear amber - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Thin tangy dark malts, slightly sweetish. Touch of dark chocolate. Some berry fruits. Touch of creamy sweetness. Light dry finish. Tasty and hangs together well.

Bottled. Mahogany coloured with no head and slight carbonation. Aroma of treacle, dark fruits with some earthiness. Flavour was very sweet, with more fruit, almonds and caramel. A rather vinous mouth feel and a short, bitter finish. Reminds me of Tally Ho - is it a rebadge? Ok.

bottle, bought at the brewery. The beer is made for HIX restaurants in Lyme Regis. Brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Very full-bodied. Quite spicy, reminding me of a Christmas pudding. Would be a warming winter ale, also great in summer.
