Not much is better on a warm day than a slice of salted watermelon and a crisp beer. We figured why not have both and added loads of Watermelon into a modern take on the historic Gose beer-style. Upon first smell the watermelon jumps out of the glass, then your first sip is softly sliced through with a moderately puckering tartness, followed quickly by more watermelon, transforming into extremely bright lemon and hay like flavors provided by the Brettanomyces wild yeast it was fermented with, finishing with a balanced salinity provided by grey French Sea Salt. If this beer is for you, then you will find yourself wanting to keep taking sip after sip to ride the wild roller coaster of this highly smashable session strength beer.

Keg at the brewery tap room, 29/01/16. Lightly hazed golden blonde with a moderate off White covering. Nose is zippy citric shreds, prominent water melon, gooseberry, funk, damp straw. Taste comprises sharp citric notes, green berry rasp, balsa wood, grain, lemon drizzle, tarnished water melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light salty spit in a mild puckering shut down. Top End for style ... great refresher.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with no real head. Aroma is sort of Jolly Rancher. Med body nearly. Flavor is salty Jolly Rancher. Maybe a citrus touch. More salt than melon, so could be worse. Any Brett must have been salted away.

On tap at Fieldwork. It pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very sweet with watermelon jolly ranchers and some strawberry notes. The flavor is mildly tart with big sweet watermelon notes. Full bodied for the style, with a nice level of tartness in the finish. A bit too heavy with the sweet watermelon. I liked the new watermelon Gose from Anderson Valley much better.
