Our Blackberry Sec mead is vinous, dry, and earthy with potent blackberry aromatics. Like many great wines but unlike most meads, our Blackberry Sec has undergone a malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity in balance with the lowered residual sugar content. The result is a uniquely dry yet fruit focused melomel. This dry mead pairs exceptionally well with duck or a steak cooked rare. Batch #01 Release Date: 03-08-2014

Bouteille 375ml, batch#1, via trade, thanks Kyle.

2/IX/18 - 375ml bottle @ Tim's BBQ Tasting - BB: n/a (2018-1216) Thanks Sebletitje for sharing the bottle!

Clear deep ruby red mead, lots of debris in the glass. Aroma: lots of honey, fruity, berries, sugary, alcohol is noticeable in the nose. MF: medium body with quite an alcohol sting to it. Taste: pretty sourish start, lots and lots of blackberries, little bitter, dry, tannins, fruity. Aftertaste: acidic, bit oxidized, honey, lots of alcohol, bit fruity, pretty dry finish, some tannins, alcohol burn, bit lemony, more of them blackberries. Very enjoyable.

Sample during the 10th Annual Day Before Labor Day Party on 09/06/2015. This Mead is a deep ruby-purple color with a minimal head and sticky legs on the glass. Aroma of honey and berries. Full-bodied with a vinous character flavors of blackberry and herbal honey. The finish is fruity with a lingering blackberry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Acquired through a trade last month. Split 3 ways with Tommy and Heather. 375ML, $35.99 in tasters at room temperature.

A - Really pretty dark purple, vinous almost pinot noir color. Actually, a small 1 finger fizzy head formed on the pour.

S - I do get a really solid boozy aroma on this one. Sweet clover honey and a definite blackberry nose with just a little bit of pear and concord grape jelly.

T - Well, this is incredibly dry. OMG. Like it pulls all of the liquid out of your mouth, leaves an almost oak barrel dry merlot grape skin taste. Blackberry up front but oh boy that finish is so dry and really difficult to get through the pour.

M - Thin, very dry,

O - Yeah, so for the price. Regular Blackberry is way better. This is $15 USD more I think than Blackberry but it’s not a bottle I’d buy again.

Bottle. Pours a hazy deep purple with no head whatsoever. Aroma has some acid with a good amount of dry blackberry and a just a hint of dry honey underlying. Flavor has tons of dry blackberry, red wine like with a growing dryness through the finish, a growing acid note and a hint of honey.

Bottle - Sweet honey, dark fruit, tannin and some vinous notes. Deep purple. Dry red tannic grape, green pepper and a very dry finish. Very wine like in flavor. Different and fun.
