This is what you get when you take a Russian Imperial Stout and mix it with an Imperial IPA, then force-feed it sugar until it can’t take any more. Then you put it into 2 different oak barrels that previously contained Bourbon. This is not beer or wine. It’s not spirit either. It’s inspired from America, born in Belgium and headed to outer space. It’s Mohawk Double Rocket , a Belgo-American Barrel Aged Barley Wine Style Ale.

Flaska från SB. Massor av portvinsaromer. Stor sötma och viss genomslag av alkoholen. Portvin, bröstkarameller, torkad frukt, rom, russin, karamelliserat socker, sherry. Ett bra ost-/eller dessertöl. På rätt sida gränsen om för sött och starkt. Riktigt smarrigt.

Bottled@SBWF2013. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some slight alcohol and actually not all too balanced. Flavour is alcohol, sweet alcohol, some ripe fruits, mild liquorice and mild floral notes. At 17.2 % it’s quite blasting, but still somewhat drinkable.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, mörk torkad frukt som dadlar, russin och fikon, choklad, vanilj med toner av marsipan. Likörkänsla, rund, lagom sötma med en liten stickig beska med smak av bitterchoklad och fikon. Ett gott aperitif öl.

375 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours hazy chestnut brown with a frothy beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet with caramel, curacao, alcohol, sweet dark bread, bourbon, vanilla fudge, roasted coconut, resin, pine needles, prunes, raisins, grapefruit rinds and lemon zest. Taste is sweet and bitter with caramel, plums in brandy, sweet dark bread, alcohol, vanilla fudge, bourbon, coconut, fresh oak, caramelized apples, tart cherries, curacao, figs, pine needles, resin and orange peal. Mouthfeel is round, very tiny dry, tiny astringent, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with caramel, bourbon, fresh oak, plums, figs, vanilla fudge and alcohol. Tasty for such a monster of a beer.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Mörk, mörk kopparfärgad vätska med högt, mörkt skum. Påtaglig doft av russin, mörkt socker och choklad. Kraftig sötma i smak. Markerad alkoholfyllnad i munnen, precis på gränsen till att ta över. Lång eftersmak med vinkaraktär.

37,5 cl bottle at Söder om Småland. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Wineous and fruity aroma. Sweet, dextrose, wineous and overripe fruity. Dark malty and roasted. Overripe fruity and toasted malty finish.
