Shaun and Nico have to break out of Alcatraz. And fast. The Hop Syndicate is hoarding hops, depriving the people of their right to hoppy, aromatic beer. Join Shaun and Nico on their adventure to Free the Hops! First, they plan a daring escape through the sewer pipe, then they surf monster waves on ironing boards, and finally they attempt a high speed cable car getaway.

Hop Crisis. Crisis? What Crisis? A few years ago, when hop prices shot through the roof and the worldwide hop market went into a tailspin, at our pub in San Francisco we decided there was only one thing for us to do. We made the biggest, hoppiest IPA we could imagine and aged it on oak for good measure. This ImperialIPA breaks all the rules with more malt, more hops and more aroma.

Can shared at the columbus tasting 22/08/2019. Many thanks! AVery clear golden orange coloured pour with a lasting frothy off white head. Aroma is semi sweet, chewy orange rind, pine, little grapefruit, chewy hop, airy. Flavour is composed of solid base malts, toffee, chewy, pine, orange rind. Assertive hop bitterness, layered hops. Paalte is semi sweet, chewy, resinous hop, skittles. moderate carboantion. Good old school west coast double ipa.

Level 6 bottleshare. Tried to live rate this but got the Ratebeer never ending wheel. Thanks to Fergus for the can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth and slightly soft palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft malts, creamy. Light floral orange. Light smooth pine. Soft finish. A very mellifluous dipa.

Oh my. Lovely East-meets-West IPA, big and juicy but with a brutal bitter streak on the back end and a healthy warming glow on the finish. Starts with a swath of grapefruit and orange, then grows a grainy, caramel-tinged malt backbone before developing lovely streaks of pine, pepper, pencil shavings, flowers, and permanent citric undercurrent. Bitterness is pronounced but manageable, while the oak adds a subtle woodsy vein deep into the fade. Pours a slightly hazed gold with a frothy white head and layers upon layers of lace. Nose mixes Simcoe dankness and Cascade pine with a little black pepper. Perfect texture, creamy and slick with the slightest tinge of warmth to remind you of the pint's lofty stature. Delicious.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Lucia’s Bodega. Appearance is cloudy light brown-orange with yellow at the edges of the glass, minimal sparkle, finger-width creamy off-white head with poor retention and nice sudsy lacing. Aroma is strong pineapple, tropical fruits and citrus with milder resin over malty backbone. Taste is also strong pineapple/tropical fruit with light citrus, late mild resin bitterness and malts. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, lots of fruity hop juiciness along with other features for balance and interest.

Can from Parker Pie, 9.7%, served in an IPA glass it gives off an intensely jammy waft of stone fruits. Getting in for a closer whiff I get some boozy sharp heat, lots of malt caramel sweetness and hints of pine. Full bodied and quite a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The taste is sharp peppery pine, jammy sweet stone fruit and a semi-dry herbal finish with some warmth radiating outwards from your stomach. Quite a good double IPA though I didn’t get anything from the oak spirals.

Can. Golden pour. Aroma has lots of hops, caramel, citrus, pineapple and peach. Bitter taste of citrus hops, pineapple, peach, mild caramel and a really bitter finish. Great hop bomb.
