Deze India Brown Ale van 8% heeft tonen van karamel in de smaak (van de Crystal mout), maar zonder zoet te zijn. In de smaak komt de dry hopping duidelijk naar voren door fruitig harsige smaken. De Nelson Sauvin, Kohatu en Soriachi Ace geven het bier een compleet ander karakter dan een reguliere India Brown Ale. Smaken en aroma’s die doen denken aan; zacht fruit, kokos, salmiak, peper en hout.
Naam
Een India Brown Ale is een vreemde eend in de bijt. Iedereen kent de India Pale Ale (IPA), maar een bruine variant is zeldzaam. Net zo zeldzaam is de Brown Madonna die geschilderd werd op de Filipijnen als bevrijding van de invloeden van het koloniale regime.

On tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem. Pours reddish brown with medium beige head. Malty, caramel, fruity, some bready notes. Sweetish with bitter finish. Medium bodied.

Nsf16. Brown madonna isnt brown. Its amber. Smells oak, malts, wood, sweet. Tastes sweet, malts, raisins and something weird and sweet like toffee. Medium body, soft carbo.

Sampled @ Nederlands Speciaalbier Festival, Den Bosch 2016. Red color, clear, average to medium sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste stokes me as an Irish red ale and not a brown ale by far. Malts, sweetish, soft wood, some hops. An Irish red ale imo. Quite pleasant.

Draft at Jopen Amsterdam. Hazy brown with a thick cream head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruity hops and floral notes. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - Amber brown pour with off white head. Aroma and taste comprises roasted and toasted malts, some cocoa, caramel, toffee, light nutty notes, decent hoppy backing, nice brown.
