A Dry-Hopped American Stout brewed in collab with Barona Brewing, from Portugal. It has a 5.8% ABV with a black colour and beige head that collapses in aroma and flavours of coffee, biscuit, dark chocolate and light citrus, reminding mandarin. With it's medium gravitational mass and bitter finish, this black hole draws you into the next sip.

[A few days old rate.] On tap at Artisan Ale, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is somewhat tannic, with red wine, moderate roast, and restrained hops. Flavour has a sort of red wine tannin quality upfront, with medium roast, and woody hops. Nicely balanced, with a nice tart red wine finish. Good stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of (collab with) Totenhopfen Gravitational Stout on 04 Jan 2020 at 18:49 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch ST190418 (BBF 12/2018). AROMA: medium to medium-high roasted malt aroma with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. background notes of nutiness and oxidized hops. APPEARANCE: very dark to black color and opaque. medium-large brown head with good retention. TASTE: medium roasted flavor with coffee and nutty notes. low oxidized hop background. medium-high bitterness with a dry, slightly bitter and roasted finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an american-like stout with ok roasted notes but already without the hops.

From the bottle. Black with a big beige crown. Aroma full of licorice, Christmas spices, vanilla. A slightly piney undertone made me think more in the direction of a black ipa than a stout. Taste is bittersweet, full of strong roasted flavors, coffee, vanilla, cardamon. A mild, piney bitterness rounds out the finish. Body is full, oily, carbonation is mild. Overall an impressive range of flavors given the relatively mild ABV. Nice.
