Hazy yellow colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have light citrus notes. Also has fruity Belgian yeast esters. Plenty of bitterness.

F: medium, white, average retention. C: pale gold, hazy. A: malty, citrus, bit passion fruits, fresh grassy, orange. T: medium malty base, sweet orange, peach, floral, bit tropical fruits, slightly more on the sweet side with caramel notes yet not bad for me, enjoyed, medium body and carbonation, 33cl bottle from Carrefour @ Cours St Michel in Brussels.

330ml bottle in Eecke, thanks to Eric for this. Pours misty gold, large white head. Aroma is fruity citrus, brioche. Taste is crisp, light, fading fruity moments, fairly light pale malt, soft citrus. A little thin on the ground.. fine, but not worth a revisit.

Bouteille 33cl de Carrefour Market, Bxl.BB 08/07/2019. Lot# 007.183.

Artisanal Walloon IPA (such a thing exists these days – we live in exciting times for beer lovers) made by a new microbrewery calling themselves “3 Fontaines”, abbreviated to 3F. It’s hard to imagine that they would not be aware of the fact that a famous lambic producer has exactly the same name in Dutch – so they should not be surprised if Drie Fonteinen (justly) makes a complaint about this sooner or later… Moussy, egg-white, bubbly, papery lacing head on a very lightly hazy, warm golden blonde beer with peachy tinge and strings of fine but vivid sparkling. Aroma of old dried (and moldy) orange peel, crumbling old biscuit cake, dried rosemary, straw, strong iron, parsley, tomato juice, shallot. Fruity onset, rather cleanish for an artisanal Belgian with notes of pear, green apple and unripe melon, vaguely sweetish and sourish with lively yet refined carbonation; smooth biscuit and bit soapy malt body, slick, with a softly bittering finish, mostly grassy, floral and hayish but with old dried citrus peel effects as well; soapy and green fruit notes linger, unstopped by the hops. Citra and Cascade, a classic choice in modern IPA, have lost much of their delicate citrus fragrance here but probably weren’t too generously applied in the first place, as this beer lacks some firm end hop bitterness for its intended style; otherwise a clean, modern attempt which I frankly expected to be worse.
