Cask days 2016. Dark fruit, dark, vinous notes. Loads of red wine and some balsamic vinegar. Overripe plums, and fresh crushed grapes. Sweet, and acidic, with hints of vanilla and wood. Earthy fruit, slightly musty red wine.... Complex and interesting.

From tap at Oedipus International Beer Festival 2016. Aroma is huge oak, malt, tart red fruits, balsamic vinegar, caramel, wine, sour grapes. Flavour is nicely strong sour and tart with a hint of sweetness. Body is medium. Huge beer yet quite drinkable, like an oak aged Flanders Red/Brown on steroids. Very good!

Bottle at the DCBeer bottle share. Poured a prety looking, red-wine red color. Aroma was tart grape. Big vinous character here. Port wine, some light dusty notes, with a bit of age on it. Tart, but not sour grape wine, with some light leather and cherries.

Notes from May 2010 One of many bottles sent to me by Batman & Robin while I was incapacitated at home. Thanks guys. Into my Ommegang Anniversary glass. A turbid, rusty brown color. Just a bit of greasy sheen on the airy, low-clinging, khaki-ish colored head. Smell is a mix of soaking wood chips, red wine vinegar, & pickle juice. Somewhat medicinal. It could of been better. The fruit was there, but besides some pits & skins, it wasn't the dominate smell. It tasted like it spent too long in the barrel. More tannins then even some harsher red wines I've had. Incredibly oaky. Too much oak really. Lemons. Very tart, edgy lemons. Grape/cherry/apple skins. It tasted like cherries too, yes. Throat clenching, acidic cherries. A sweet & sour mix, mostly focusing on the briny, sour bitterness, & not so much on any ripe fruit that I was hoping for. Feel was all wood. Dry to the point you need a lager chaser. Carbonation was pretty sturdy, but it didn't need much to cut the muddy body. I guess I was expecting something juicier. Dry, tart, & sour is good combination at times, but all the puckering made my enjoyment of it minimal. Though once it became warmer & fell a bit flat, it was actually somewhat easier to enjoy.

Ickle can from Utobeer, Borough. Aroma had grapes, dark fruit, burnt molasses and booze. Dark opaque treacle brown. Creamy off-white head soon recedes. Very sour. Tart. Vinous. Boozy warmth. Spice. Hints of tobacco in the finish. Develops a grape jam streak. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Really hitting the spot as I recline on the sofa.

Cork-top bottle, 0.75l, shared with CanCrusher. Aroma of red wine, oak, funk and leather. Pours cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Tastes tart vinous, woody and funky with dried fruity acidity and berries. Medium to full body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. That’s royalty…

Plum and some sour leather. Pretty complex, with a cool shoot of sweet tobacco at the second stage. Apricot. Dark brown pour with good head and lacing. Had to come to the brewery to afford a sip of this. Tap.

2013 vintage in a tulip showing dark brown with no head. The nose shows moderately intense notes of jammy blackberry and currants. The palate is barely carbonated and light bodied. Moderately tart with a high acidity with light notes of dark forest fruit and a light tannic edge.

2016 edition, 750ml bottle with cork and cage. Hazy copper-ruby colour with a frothy-fizzy beige head that dissipates quickly leaving a small ring. Beautiful aromas of molasses with red wine. Very sour in the mouth with some balsamic vinegar notes. The red beer base is quite enhanced by the Pinot Noir barrel aging. Light tart stays on the tongue. I think I prefer this one over the Sang de Chêne. Dark fruits do come out with time. Very, very nice for a fancy sour ale.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a small offwhite head. Aromas of balsamico, caramel, sweet grapes, raspberries, vinegar, balloons (fuck you Niels), porty notes, dark fruits. Taste is balsamic, vinegar, light malty, raspberries, grapey, dry vinous, sweeter oaky notes.
