Today the beers of the Herkenrode abbey are the only beers created at an all-female abbey and still available today. Vesper is made using the original medieval recipes of the monastery. The beer is filtered which gives it a nice clear color.

Bottle thanks to Gary and Mike. Appearance - copper and clear with a snow white head. Nose - yeast, banana, caramel and spice Taste - candied orange, raisin and prune. Brown sugar and brown bread.. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy middle and finish. The finish cleans nicely. Overall - yep, very nice.

Draft at Mussel Bar, Arlington. Poured a very clear golden yellow color with a small, wispy head. Might have dissipated by the time it got to the table. Aroma had some very light bubble gum, grain, wheat. Light sweet candi. Flavor was pleasant light sweet candi sugar. Pleasant.

Advent #4. Lovely Tripel! A unique beast, given the secret abbey herbs which give it somewhat of a cognac aftertaste. Supposedly made exclusively by nuns at the Abbey, but the bottle says it was made at a brewery 40min away. Untappd says it was made with
