Bottle shared by Mike at Logan's. Pours black, with a small, bubbly, beige head. The aroma is coffee, rye, oak, vanilla, and sweet cherries. Some notes of toffee and caramel in the finish. Very sweet and dessert-like, with just a touch of bitterness to balanced it well. Very heavy body, with a smooth, velvety, rich mouthfeel. This is an amazingly smooth and decadent beer. The sherry treatment just tops it off.

well, it’s pretty darn black but not oily pitch black. 1 finger tan head. totally getting a dessert wine aroma on top of the great stout properties. oh man. this is pretty unique. you get this awesome almost dominating barrel character of a nicely made sherry with oak tannins and a little bit of ash and you have a nice boozy dense malty beer on the undertones. Fantastic.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2016 - huge thanks to PHale. Pours oily black-brown with a frothy khaki head. Ashy roast in the nose, torched wood, iodine, dried dark berries. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with some prominent woody notes, baking cocoa, roast, cherry, raspberry. Full bodied, a little oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with some dark fruits, berries, chocolate. Good stuff. Interesting barrel character. Opens up nicely.
