* Old rating. 12 Fl.Oz. bottle, best before N 10. Dunkel-dickflüssiges Bier, Gewürze, brauner Zucker, aber nicht sonderlich tief. Nicht sonderlich aromatisch-bitter, echt enttäuschend...

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 5/20/14

Aroma: The aroma is rich and malty, fruity, some caramel, toffee, and brown sugar
Appearance: It pours a clear amber color with a fizzy beige head and occasional lace
Flavor: The flavor, like the nose, is rich and malty as well, pretty sweet, with a light bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a fairly thick texture, and a lively carbonation
Overall Impression: This is some pretty solid stuff, and pretty sweet too. The carbonation hurts the drinkability here a bit. Overall, this is a solid example of the style, but not something I see myself seeking out.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a chestnut/copper colored body, small white one finger head, lacing slid quickly into the body.
The smell had a sweet subdued caramel, slightly bready.
The taste was pretty much the same, but coming through in a bland sort of way.
On the palate, it sat at/about a medium, slightly sessionable, creamy aftertaste, sweet bready finish.
Overage average for the style, but acutally I liked it and went nicely with some Christmas cookies.

Bottle. Medium brown with amber. Good head, long-lasting. Fruity, hoppy aroma. Some caramel, berries, raisins, malt. Malty and rich flavor. A touch sweet, slightly roasted. Spices, caramel. Very hoppy finish, with malt and roasted flavor. A touch of sweetness lingers with the bitter hops. Very good balance. Medium body. A very interesting brew.

Bottles courtesy of kiefdog. Pours deep copper with near gold edges and thin off white head. The aroma is a combination of malts and dark fruitiness to go along with a sensation of musty cherry puree. The taste has different levels of maltiness mixing with mild fruity esters and mild winter spices. Beyond midway I get a bit of smokiness that adds a very welcome extra bit of complexity. Into the finish molasses and mild burnt malts murmur to the surface just before the experience expires.

Pours an orange-tinged brown into a shaker. Off-white head recedes to hug rim leaving no lacing. Roasted malt aromas. Full and malty with a dry hop finish. Tastes better than it looks.
