A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy orange color with a bunch of chunks and a huge foamy orange-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and yeasty with sugar and golden fruit. The flavor was sweet, tangy and yeasty with strong golden fruits. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Excellent.

Pours dark gold with a fuzzy head that proves resilient. Smells like beer, plain and simple. Mildly funky lager yeast versus sweet pale malt versus herbal Noble Hop finish. Tastes, well, like the previous sentence. Not that this normality is a bad thing. Double Mai-bock has a lot of white bread in it, but the European hop finish keeps things from falling into a dull stupor. Spicy, floral, hoppy, grainy, doughy, sleepy, and Doc, turns out this pint makes for a solid diversion. Slick and carbonated to perfection, Blonde Double Mai-bock doesn’t stay long in the glass. C&C 750 mL bottle from the brewery. Pours a hazy golden color with very fine floating particles. Large white frothy head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet grainy malts, honey, and a grassy hop finish. The taste is green apple, grassy hop notes, a bit of honey and a faintly grainy finish. Medium bodied. Fairly decent.

Bottle. Light amber-colored. Very different in taste to the Austrian Heller bocks I’ve had recently. Strong yeast taste, not much to my liking, actually. More like an ale, I suppose, fruity, not much in hops, and rather weak tasting altogether. Drinkable, but a letdown coming right after the fresh bocks on tap in Vienna.

12oz bottle pours clear gold with off white head. The aroma has lots of grainy and Munich type malts, apples, cantaloupe and raisins. The flavor is much sweeter than the nose led onto. I get apples, pears, cantaloupe and raisins before malty sweetness builds to midway carrying with it a mild spice note. A raisin note picks up toward the finish as well as mild Munich malts. The grainy malts carrying into the after taste as does mild fruitiness.

On tap at the Bocktown in the Robinson Shopping Complex. Ubiquitous pale yellow american beer color. Has a beery aroma, nothing interesting sticks out about the smell except that it certainly smells like beer. First taste impression is a medium alky malty impact. Has goos medium carbonatiion. At the commencement the alky impact is very apparent but this fades as the session continues. Perhaps my taste buds are becomming numb. The development of this beer on the palate is evovling and interesting. You expect a bitter finish because of the initial alky impact but the finish yields to something that is pretty mild. Nice overall beer except for that miss behaved initial flavor hit. Probably not as good as Victory St. Boisterous Hellerbock or Nova Paka Valdstejn. On par with Erie Brewing Golden Fleece Maibock.

On tap at Bridgewater pup, 30th station Philly!!....Pours a frothy off white head, deep yellow in color, head dissipates to a little fizzle...smells of yeast and citrusy, a very simple beverage, yet loaded with citrus flavors, malty creamy mid-palate ends with a slight bite

A dark yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of fruit. The flavor is very sweet, which makes it somewhat sticky with strong notes of fruit, amongst those oranges and apples, and with a dry slightly bitter end, where the alcohol also makes it presence known in a subtle way.
