Old rating. Bitter version and it is bitter. Overly sweet still and a weird roasty bitterness that borders on astringent. There is some burnt chocolate notes, but still a mess and not really smooth or enjoyable.

After the success of the Roxce x Sapporo Chocolate beer they got more ambitious and launched 2 versions a bitter & a sweet. The bitter had a similar velvety thick brown pour though possibly slightly darker. This was way closer to the original recipe though maybe a touch more bitter. Anyways, this was my favorite of the two a good bitter dark chocolate flavor with a thick creamy mouthfeel. A nice chocolate beer but I preferred the original before they split into sweet & bitter-I think it was just a marketing cash grab so they could sell bigger gift sets.

Pretty much black in color with a mid-size tan head. Sugary sweet chocolate aroma with molasses and vanilla, too. Medium bodied. Powerful chocolate with a very sweet malt and molasses background. Eventually, this one finishes with some faint dark chocolate bitterness. Interesting.

Can. Aroma of dark chocolate, cream, and some dark malts. Lots of chocolate overwhelming all else, but not unpleasant. Black with a medium tan head, quickly shrinking. Flavor of well roasted malts and chocolate. Bitter and burnt, but with a creamy, chocolate ice-cream quality. Sweet as well, with a good deal of fruit and a bit of tartness. Not terrible, but a little much. Rather heavy and thick body. Altogether not bad, though a bit too sweet. Bitter, roasted finish helps.
