This flemish-style red ale pays homage to a little known sect of assassins. Slightly tart with a subtle maltiness this beer is sure to please. Traditionally it was consumed by the jugful.

Slightly cloudy and fairly clear ruby and bronze coloured body with a ridiculously fast-dying tan head that leaves nothing on top at all. Aroma of super tart and pungent strawberries, cherries, raspberries, oak, soured grapes, lemons, cedar and a tiny bit of light malt - very nice and incredibly mouth-watering. Medium-bodied; Ridiculously tart and fresh raspberries, cherries, oak, strawberries and a touch of lemon along with a nice malty and dry finish near the end, but this is all about the tart fruit, and how perfectly it's done. Aftertaste shows the tart flavours throughout, but very nice, fresh and quite potent raspberry and strawberry notes with a great oak and dry flavour with some light yeast and funk on the end, but ends very mouth-watering and very nice throughout. Overall, I usually hate hyped beers and breweries especially, but this is one special beer. I wished I saved it for a very special rating number, but this will have to do - and I surely hope I can find this bottle again somewhere, even at this price point, as it was one of the best beers of the past several years that I've had! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Eataly in Chicago, Illinois on 11-February-2016 for US$18,80 (yes, that much), sampled *almost* exactly two years later on 12-February-2018 at home in Washington. The closest beer that it reminded me of was De Dolle Special Brouwsel 20, which I was lucky enough to sample three separate times.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016. This is a blurry deep golden colored one with a hefty a decent looking sidesticking grey head. Like the aroma. It's both sweet and a little red berry tart. Wood snurpy, lemonade traces. It has a really grainy taste. Grains and popcorn. Lots of them - unfortunately. Oily and nice in the mouth, below average on the bubbles. Rye bread and a mild white wine vinegar sourness. Oaky-tart finish. Found this one quite strange.13.05.2016

Draft. A golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of fruit and brettanomyces. The flavor is sour with notes of wood, brettanomyces, and fruits, leading to a tart finish.

Bottle: Bubbled, nearly clear amber-brown with a thin head. Peppery, sour cherry aroma. Taste is strikingly sour cherry malt, vinegar.....spicy, acidic and dry. When FFF creates something they call a sour, they don’t screw around.....leaves a lasting sting...wow.
