Bottle as omiyage from Izu, labelled as Dogashima Beer, still pretty sure its the same beer as this entry here. Pours mahogany brown, some beige head at first but that does not stay around for long. Nose is bready and nutty, some light caramel and toffee but not too much of these two. Tastes fresh, caramel and burnt sugar there but quite well balanced with bitterness, malty character bringing out some rye bread character. Quite enjoyable actually, not a bad altbier.

Bottle from the brewery. It pours a very clear reddish-brown with minimal beige foam. The aroma is malt-forward giving you notes of caramel & dried figs/dates. Chocolate, tart caramel, a bit of smoke. Light bodied but a fairly tasty beer though I feel that sour/tart flavor doesn’t really seem appropriate for an alt. After awhile that sourness fades and I get maple/tobacco notes. Pretty good.

On tap at the brewery. Deep brown-orange color with a decent head. Earthy, dry, flavor. With caramel and some dark fruits. Decent alt-like nose—dry, withcaramel and a bit of cocoa. A reasonable alt.

Light brown color, caramel, molasses and milk chocolate. Light bodied, a bit unbalanced. Not unpleasant, but meh.

Bottled. Clear ruby, rich creamy head. Lightly roasty with notes of strawberry. Light bodied with crisp mouthfeel and rather clean flavour profile. Later on there are notes of salty coffee before drying bitterness sets in.
