Keg at Ushi-Tora. Dark brown with not much head. Aroma is dark roast malt, bit fruity, pine hops, coffee. Taste is roasty malt, grapefruit citrus bitterness in the finish. Perfectly nice black IPA.

Draught at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo. Almost black, small head. Rich grapefruity nose. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Plenty of orange and licorice. Flavourful and refreshing. Great beer!

Draught at Ushitora. Brown, very bitter, with big hops and a little dark fruit. Caramel flavors with fruit—cherry and grapefruit. Soft malts, nicely roasted, with licorice and some coffee, great hops. Smooth and luscious. A very good black IPA.

Dark. Aroma of citrus grapefruit, dark fruits, and malts. Nice. Medium, well carbonated body. Strong hops, grapefruit, citrus, light caramel malts. So much flavor packed into this brew. Finishes dry. Hoppy, bitter, tasty. Baird definitely got this one right.

This is a supped up version of their IBA and is supposed to be loosely based on Rogue’s Brewer. Dark brown color, no head. Sweet malty nosewith hints of dark chocolate, toffee and cherries barely make any presence on top of the lucious citrusy, cotton candy hop bomb. Wonderful. Up front bitterness attacks on top of milk chocolate brownies, cherries and toffee. Mouth is sweet, but dripping hops seem to make things balance out. Gangster rap style hardcore bitter finish. No-hop heads need not apply. Somewhere between Rogue Imperial IPA and Theakstons Old Pec. A work of art.
