Tap@Popeyes, Oct 2009. Citric nose, cascade. Amber, low head. Smooth easy to drink, like a mild IIpa. Mellow mouthfeel, light stickyness. Pine retronasal.

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo. Hazy pale amber. Tart apple cider upfront. Above medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Green apples and graepfryut, quite a bit of resin too. Not very aromatic, and with rather sloppy unfirm malt and a fair bit of alcohol it is by far and away my least favourite from an otherwise fabulous brewer.

Tap at Popeye. Medium orange/amebr color with a bit of lace. Fruity, citrus aroma; very hoppy, with medium malt. Lean, hoppy flavor with citrus, pine, caramel, cherries. Lightish malt with medium bitterness. A lemony and original barley wine. Improved from earlier years, I would guess.

Light dirty amber color. Oranges, bread, chocolate nose. Very estery with sometype of yeast that seems to be used in one too many Japanese barley wines. Slight alcoholic flavors in mouth with a touch of wheatiness and a mildly bitter finish. The waiter at Popeye’s described the beer as "so-so". You know a bar kicks ass, when the waiters know exactly what you will think of the beer.
