Bottle. Helles malt and softness, light grassy hops but the extra booze gives it a bit of a creamy feel somehow. Light funkiness which I like. Not sure if it is supposed to be there. Honey and fruit. I like it.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a slightly hazy gold with 2 fingers of head. Biscuit malty nose with honey and some peach notes. Fairly one-dimensional but still really enjoyable. More honey as it warms. Finish is sweet and malty. Nice enough for the style. I enjoyed this. --- Beer merged from original tick of Maibock on 20 Apr 2016 at 21:16 - Score: 7

This bottle was brewed on my birthday which was a nice surprise. 6.5% bottle from the brewery via Rakuten. Anniversary 3-pack. It pours a dark gold with a quickly dissipating head. Nice sweet malt aroma. Rich thick malty sweet body, kind of one dimensional but good. Dry mild bitter finish. Reminds me of a golden ale I had yesterday... but it is better.

Bottled. Lightly hazy golden, small head. Aroma of bread and butter. Sweet and soft, medium to full bodied with solid malt backbone. Perhaps overly sweet, but packed with good alt flavours. Fruity with notes of wheat malt. Low bitterness.

Tap at Q-Brick. Fruity malt aroma with peaches, oranges, and honey. Rich malt flavor, with the same fruits as in the nose. Hoppy, with a rather bitter finish. Nice contrast between hops and fruits; good balance. Pleasant and flavorful, but nothing at all like a traditional maibock. Tastes like a strong blonde ale.

I looked at the ratings before, I had this beer and didn’t have much expectations. WOW, nice surprise to say the least. Deep golden color with a fruity nose of apricots, strawberries. Fully body of apricots, strawberries and oranges. Rich malty finish with a lingering orange taste. Tried six years after the original rating and it isn’t quit as good as what it once was. Still not a bad brew, but just above average and lacking depth.

Dark straw colour. Rich bready aroma notes with alcoholic spiciness. Somewhat light - the rich, bready goodness promised in the nose is obscured by a fresh mountain waterfall. Slightly malty and alcoholic finish.
