Bottle from shop at Morioka station. Thanks K. Golden coloured with small bubbly off white real ale looking head. Aroma is malty, slight spiciness. Taste is quite nice, little bit of bitterness, malty again, brown bread, bit of caramel. Quite a good impression of a bitter, but maybe not quite there as I don't like bitters really and this is nicer. Rerate on tap Oct 16. Much nicer! Lovely taste, British caramel maltiness which lingers, initial light hoppy bite. Very enjoyable. Caramel is very distinct rather than just giving a hint of sweetness. Good stuff.
Second time, on tap. Nice stuff malty and good hoppiness. Bit of spice.

Orange brown with a fizzy beige head and a soft medium to light body. The taste is nice clean and crisp lightly fruity malt flavor and clean herbal hop finish. Second bottle, opaque orange with a beige head and a light caramel with fruity/herbal notes. The taste is a bit bitter and herbal though earthy and crisp and clean in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear gold to light amber with a small white head. Caramel and toasted toffee with some peppery hops on the nose. Taste is dry with some malty sweetness and a lightly bitter finish. Maybe a little too much carbonation for the style? Enjoyable though. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bitter on 11 Oct 2015 at 21:05 - Score: 6

Tap at Qbrick, March 19, 2009. Looks and tastes like a zwicklbier to me. Cloudy orange color. Very bitter hops, with a yeasty richness. Long, bitter finish. Some citrus and other fruits. OK aroma hops as well. Excellent. I could drink a gallon. (This is called an Enlgish ale on the website! It is definitely not the same beer as in yester-years! It also is completely different from the bottle.)

Gold with a touch of red and little head. Aroma was caramel, bubblegum, and sweet orange. Flavor was sweet, subtle hops, caramel and muted orange. Medium body. Meh, wasn’t bad, wasn’t great.

Light amber color. Thin head. Butter popcorn and caramel dominate nose. Over powering with the dyctyle through out with a big caramel finish. Pass, this is not my type of beer.
