Draft - Grainy malts and a bit of yeast. Cloudy amber with a rich beige head. Lot of grain and very little sweetness. Missed the mark on these one, wished the malts were more prominent.

2008 version, drink a year later on draught at Nakameguro. Huge malt, sweet but balanced by alcohol, and age. Smooth, clean, no strange flavors at all. The best Japanese-made bock I have tried yet. Much better and well-balanced than when it was young.

Caramel in color with little head. Slightly fruity nose, caramel malts, chocolate, light toasted nuts. Body is a tad thin. Caramel malts, a little toasted, some fruits, and chocolate. Sorta bitter in the end. The alcohol comes on in the finish, but not all that noticeable. Pretty solid dopplebock.

Smooth milk chocolately and caramel malty brew. Malt profile is spot on. Dangerously drinkable for 7%. Perhaps a bit fuller bodied would have helped. The commericial description is pretty spot on. This is what I want to drink next to a fire reading a good book.
