Deep orange with a firm white head. Aroma is sweet citrus, caramel malt, light toasted notes, and some pepper. The sweet malt and citrus are basically all that comes through in the flavor. Light bitterness. Full bodied. A very classic, solid pale ale.

Tap at Keyaki. Brown coloured, small off-white head. Aroma spicy malt, slight citrus there too. Taste is good, easy drinking, light caramel, bit of lemon at the end. Pretty nice. Solid.

On tap at Raku. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. A nice floral and caramel nose. Toast, more floral hops, light citrus. Very smooth.

Bottle from Shinanoya in Dogenzaka. Pours a relatively clear copper with a half-finger of foam. Malt-forward nose with some muscat and apricot notes. Body is thin but with a prickly carbonation that is quite refreshing. Again malty, but nice earthy hop bitterness on the finish. Very quaffable and refreshing. Quite surprised actually. Not amazing, but for a British pale this is certainly one of the better offerings in Japan. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pale Ale on 13 Mar 2016 at 21:28 - Score: 6. Original review text: This ones ok. Fairly British but some nice peppery /grassy hops.

On tap at Dig Bar, a copper gold with a grape aroma, fruity + bitter taste and a dry finish. A nice enough beer.

Light. Not very hoppy, nor interesting. Light bitter finish. Not much to say about this beer, so I am writing to take up space.

Aroma of dryish amber malts and yeast, earthy, grass. Lighter hops, with pine, and a touch of citrus. Medium copper color with a thin head. Malty flavor, caramel and a bit of fruit. A bit of peppery hops to balance. Definitely malt-focused, yet the malts are not terribly complex. Citrus, peppery hops finish is not very strong but lingers. Interesting, well balanced session beer. Very English in style.
