Bottle from the Shinbashi prefectural shop. Dark brown colour, with small golden head. Aroma is slightly smoky, bit of soy sauce, roasty, bit of light chocolate. Taste is different, still chocolate roastiness in the aftertaste, but bitterness too. Initial taste is fruity, some sharpness, maybe booze, sweet too. Tastes a bit thin maybe, has the booze but not the body to back it up. Maybe one beer too far for me today, but still not bad. Should probably try again some time. --- Beer merged from original tick of Umenishiki Bock on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Bottle from Yamaoka. Served in a snifter it has an impressively thick beige head on a black body. The aroma is fruity with soft cacao/chocolate and roasted notes. Medium bodied with a raspy carbonation and dry finish. The taste is roasty, nutty, oats and done dark chocolate in the finish. Pretty stout like more than a Bock but a good winter beer.

Bottle. Sweet, malty, roasted aroma with chocolate and caramel and a bit of coffee. Almost black with a decent tan head. Very sweet flavor, somewhat medicinal and strong, with roasted malts, coffee, and lots of chocolate. Not exactly on for a bock. More like a stout. Decent enough, but a bit too sweet and too roasted.
