Christmas Beer, bottle version. Absolutely opaque black with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dry cocoa, Nagahama house yeast. Dry and slightly grainy. A dry stout-like flavor, well roasted, not sweet, with hints of bitter chocolate. Rather strong sour notes as well. Slightly creamy. Finish is dry, roasted, slightly sour. Long roasted taste lingers. Good but not really special.

It seems so many Japanese brewers have come out with Chocolate beers for Valentines. Unfortunately this one falls short. I second Capa’s comments.

Draught at Thrash Zone. Dark brown with a tan head. Chocolaty, malt, and earthy aroma. The mouth is thin, but very chalky. Flavor is chocolate, earth, malt, and some grass. Not bad, but once is enough.
