Scotch-Style Ale
So good it’s almost wrong. Dark ruby in color and brewed with seven varieties of imported malts. Complex in finish, with hints of smoke and peat, paired with a malty richness and a right hook of hop power to give it the bad attitude that a beer named Dirty Bastard has to live up to. Ain’t for the wee lads.

355 ml. bottle. Clear, amber to deep red colour with a thin, lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, overripe fruits, light smoke and peat. Toasted malt and toffee. Light booze. Rather rich. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Long lasting dry finish with floral hops and a peat note. A rather rich beer - the smoked notes and hops mellows down the malts. Good.

355ml bottle @ Silja Symphony. Mahogany color, thin tan head. Aroma is dark bready, very malty, raisin with some notes of smoke. Flavor has raisins, plums, bread, hops. Long, dry raisiny finish. Quite the sipper. Full bodied, no sign of alcohol here. Solid.

Bottle. A- Caramel, burnt sugar, sweet, dark fruits, dough. A- Very dark mahogany color, clear dark liquid, off white head. T- Caramel malts, brown sugar, slightly sweet, dried dark fruits, P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, strong finish. O- A very good beer. More of a Barleywine than any scotch ale I have had. Full of complexity and lots of flavor. The malts make for a sweet caramely dark fruity goodness. Much good to be said about this beer.

Oct 29, 2025 (7/3/7/3/14=3.4): Poured from 355mL bottle (bottled 04.29.2025). Hazed medium dark brown with small light beige head. Butterscotch forward with some feint hints of peat and resin, light boozy finish. Not enjoying this as much 11 years later, seems a little bit artificial.
July 20, 2014 (8/4/7/3/15=3.7): Poured from 355mL bottle. Copper brown with full beige head. Aroma has lots of caramel malt, some subtle chocolate, and toffee. Same taste with a bit of alcohol. A little lighter bodied than I would’ve thought.

Bottle, 0.355l. Hazy dark brown color with small creamy tan-like head and poor lacing. Aroma of strong caramel, dried fruits, dandelion syrup and cask wood. Taste starts with smooth and rich maltiness, follows by dried fruits and alcohol, mouth coating, while finish is almost without any bitterness. Full body, syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Damn strong scotch ale...

On tap at Malarkey’s in Lake of the Ozarks. Aroma is quite restrained - perhaps it is too cold and we will see if it opens up a bit. Beautiful copper-mahogany with light tan head that webs down the glass and leaves a dusting across the top with a full collar. Taste is rich caramel with overt chocolate and slightly smoky on the backend.

0.355 l bottle, this one was Marko’s I guess, so thanks for sharing! It poured clear amber-copper body with modest ivory head. Fine malty aroma, caramel, figs and honey mostly. Quite sweet flavor as well, caramel, some dried fruits and sugar. Showed only subtle hints of wood and maybe some herbal hops but I wasn’t sure anymore. Medium to full in body, with alcohol evident but nicely subdued so far. Nice long, sweet, thick finish, alcoholic as well (bitter bite). Not nearly complex as expected, also expected more from it, but a fine and effective ale anyway.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a deep copper red color with a thick rocky beige head. Subtle caramel malt nose with hints of smoke and milk chocolate. Sweet toasted malt flavor has notes of caramel, sweet coffee, raisins and smoky peat. Very smooth, yet complex. Finish is chewy with a sticky, spicy hop finish. This is a nice Scotch style ale worth seeking out.
