True IPA’s were high in both alcohol and hops to survive the long hot voyage from Britain to India. This makes it a big and flavour beer style. Our version is no exception. Traditional English malts and hops are used to give this copper brew a big flavour. This beer has a slightly roasted note with a strong hop bitterness and flavour.

on tap at the brew pub.
quite mild hoppy aroma, i was expecting more. flavour is more hoppy, the hops are more pronounced, they seem to be fuller in the flavour. finish is bitter, but not as bitter as i would like. a pretty tame IPA

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a bright orange-caramel color with a medium sized foamy off white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tart, perfume and citrus. The flavor was tangy and bitter with mixed fruity, citric and perfumey hops. Long finish. Medium body. Ok.

Draught at the brewpub
Amber color, with small head. Light caramel aroma. Some caramel flavor, also a bit buttery; good body strength; strong bitterness, but limited hop qualities.
This would be an English IPA.

Smells like malt fermented in an open vat in a swamp. Pours reddish brown, clear (obviously). No trace of hops, or if there is, it’s no hops I’ve previously encountered. Taste has a bitterness more akin to turpentine than any herb I know. Definitely stinks of a grade six science experiment gone wrong. Brutal. On tap at No Name bar.

A reddish amber IPA with a thin off white head. A nice restrained hops in aroma, light caramel notes. In mouth, a nice light IPA, herbal, a bit light than expected. On tap at Smokeless Joes, March 23, 2009.

From the cask at the brewery. Big tobacco aroma with a bolder hop bitterness than from the keg (tried both). Complex English-style amber and caramel malts, with good hop bitterness, also from English style hops (fuggles?). Good hoppy finish. Very nice.

Golden-red colour. Very woody hop nose with some caramel. Dry, woody IPA with lots of centennial and cascade. Solid caramel backbone. Dry, slightly herbal, woody finish.
