Bottled. Black with a bubbly head. Nose is soy sauce, berries, chocolate syrup, roasted charcoal. rich chocolate flavor, berries and soy, a touch of vegetables. Rather high carbonation.

I got a preview of the Russian Imperial Stout being tapped for the Pints of Ghosts ghost story event at Kyoto Beer Lab. Kyoto Beer Lab Howling Ghosts 10.3% Russian Imperial Stout Deep black with a dense long lasting rusty tan head. The aroma is mild toasty chocolate while the beer has a velvety full body - this would be amazing on nitro or in cask. The high ABV is well hidden and it is super drinkable, I could easily have pounded my half pint. The taste was oats, bitter dark chocolate (80-90% cacao) in the finish and a certain toasty character. Young and not super complex but exceedingly well balanced and enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
