650ml waxed bottle. Pours a clear dark brown almost black with red hue and a large, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of bourbon, whiskey, oak, light roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and raisin. Sweet, rich flavour of lightly roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, licorice, raisin, fig, earth and coffee in a dry, mild bitter, whiskey and bourbon warming finish. Full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Excellent, nice complexity.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention with some lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with some light bourbon notes with dry fruits. Taste is a mix of chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes, no roasted malt notes discernible but dried fruits notes with some bourbon and oak notes that remove any rough edges from this beer. Body is about average with good carbonation. Great nightcap and really resembles a mix of porter/quad.

Bottle at Ash's
Dark brown colour with small head. Very nice aroma, liquor, chocolate, touch of tobacco, fruit molasses. Sweet but not cloying, strong alcohol upfront, the flavor is quite rich, some fruit.
Excellent.

Waxed bomber from Bruisin' Ales. Pours very dark brown with a creamy, foamy medium tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, dark fruit, perhaps wood, perhaps anise. On the lesser side of full bodied. Flavor is rather different than others of the series? Definitely wood. Bourbon. Chocolate. Dark fruits - fig/raisin. Anise likely. But might there be apple brandy and rum? Mild heat burn. A touch earthy/ashy in the finish. That's a poor description. It would never lead anyone to realize how good this stuff does taste. Excellent.

Bottle shared by Brian, thanks! Pours a clear deep brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy dark grains and a bit of ash with roasted malts and a slight bitterness underlying. Flavor has earthy roasted malts and dark grains with, chocolate and oak supporting.

Enjoyed on draft at Hop and Hound. I love getting this beer each year as it ages one year ahead of me. I guess that means I'm 30 next year. Really nice barrel notes to this. Huge bold roast. Dark fruit. Chocolate. Delicious. Spicy, toasty malt. It's a bit boozy, but nowhere near complaints on a beer of this strength. A bit dry as the toasty malt lingers. Cool whiskey lingers late as well. Surprisingly smooth. Damn good beer.
