Bottle shared at Yggdrasil. Thanks Juan! Pours a deep brown with slight ruby highlights and a small beige head. Coffee forward nose with light green pepper, chocolate brownie and faint vanilla. Smooth on the palate with more vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Balanced finish.

Thanks TimE for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing brown with latte tinged colored foam. The nose shows moderately intense notes of vegetal green pepper notes that somehow works quite well. The palate is fully carbonated and light bodied. Mild coffee tartness with a lot of green pepper forwardness with a strong coffee bitterness on the finish. A bit too vegetable forward.

Pitch black color. White head. Huge green pepper, coffee, roasted malt, very dry nose. Full body, dry, chocolate, roasted malt and green pepper notes. Tight. Very bitter finish that you don’t notice as much mid palate. . Alcohol super well hidden. Very drinkable.

Tap at Molto Stand. Black with a medium head. big coffee nose. rich, sweet, creamy coffee flavor with chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Lovely use of the coffee and delicious.

Tap @ Beer Boy, Nakameguro. Pours dark brown with some light brown foam on the top. Chocolate roast in the nose, lightly sweet, decently bitter. Toffee and some very good and tasty freshly pressed coffee there as well. Taste has more of that coffee, malt sweetness balanced quite well, light grassy bitterness in the finish. Tasty.

Shiga Kogen Imperial Coffee Porter 8% 71 IBU On tap at Bungalow, I wanted to go grab a bottle or two at Yamaoka but finding it on tap saved me some trouble. Deep cola brown with a dense long lasting tan head and ruby highlights. The beer has a fairly enticing sweet coffee aroma. Full bodied and quite smooth with a fruity sweet approachable coffee flavor. It isn’t the best coffee beer I’ve had but it is probably the nicest Japanese one I’ve had, Shiga Kogen nailed it. Again. Damn I might need to track down bottles of this after all... I really dig the somewhat chocolate coffee/mocha finish. Ap 4 Ar 8 p 4 t 8 o 15-6
