Dark brown pour, some light beige foam on the top. Nose is nutty, light caramel and lots of wet rye bread, lightly tart. Taste has bitterness, even slightly harsh, ashy and burnt malts, caramel and burnt bread. Dry, some blackberry character, lingering dry and ashy bitterness. Decent.

7/4/7/4/13 Bottle from the brewery. Nutty, spicy nose, bread malts, caramel, citrus, Hazy brown with red and orange tints and a fluffy, attractive head. Hop-centered, minerals, citrus, quite bitter. Nice malt, but it is in the background, definitely not an English brown. Lightly nutty, light coffee, very bitter. Good American brown, though malt is too simple for me. Slightly too bitter as well.

Ise Kadoya American Brown Ale 5% Deep cola brown with a massive dense beige head that fluffs up above the lip of the glass. Fruity with cocoa cereal aroma with just a smidge of roasty notes. Medium bodied with a bit of a dry finish in the finish. The taste is bang on balanced Kakao, fruits and toast. My first sip of this and I was like “wow this is banging” and “one of the best American browns I’ve had” you get the hops but totally in sync with the malts. On second (&3rd,4th,sips...) it isn’t as jaw-droppingly good but damn if this isn’t a spot on brown ale. I wish I’d bought more as it is a winter treat, I’ll buy more if I see it anywhere. Due to the American in the name and improved flavor I’m putting this down as a new beer.
