It’s been awhile since I came to Ichi-ya.600¥ +tx for a small makes these some of the best prices in Kyoto. Ichijoji Coffee Stout 5% Deep brown almost black with a creamy beige head of foam and ruby highlights. It has a nice lightly seeet and fruity dark coffee aroma. The body was very smooth and velvety at first but then finished dry and almost watery which was a let down. The taste is sweet coffee, your daily black coffee with sugar. I’m guessing there’s a touch of lactose in there. Overall it’s pretty good though I’d prefer a fuller body and more softness rather than dryness for a beer in this style.

Tap at Ichiya. Black, lace. Nose is roasted barley and coffee. Relatively thin and light, coffee, roast, bit of charcoal. Decently made but dry stouts with coffee just aren't for me.
