When we set out to make a rose cider, we knew we wanted to pay homage to our friends in the winemaking world. Unlike many commercial ciders that rely on food coloring or additives to achieve a “rose pink” blush, our rose gets its color and flavor from grape skins — just, as we believe, like a rose should. We start with fresh New England apples, pressed and fermented at cellar temperature; then age our cider on Syrah and Zinfandel grape skins to impart tannin, structure, and berry notes. We source grape skins from California because we cannot find a high enough quantity here in the Northeast. Together, these add up to a fun-loving but refined marriage of New England apples with traditional wine grapes, as tasty as it is beautiful.

Very pretty pink light red clear wine color. No head. Mild sweet apple peel nose. First taste is also mild apple peel and maybe some black grape peels as well. Quite dry. Much better than those sweet domestic stupid woodchuck style ciders you typically find around here. Yes, this one is more like the real thing, from France I'd say. I bet they use a type of champagne yeast too, but who knows? Reminds me of the epernay I used when I made a few batches. I'm sipping this from a sniffer and its quite pleasant. I'd rate this right up there with my other rose ciders. Enjoyable and not too sweet, I could drink a few of these with ease. Good job there shacks.

Is this my first Rose cider? I’m not sure. Wine looking hued. Nose is tannic grape skin and fine crabappple. Tastes of tart crab apples and vinous grape skin, some jam and wood. Dry. Little watery.

Honey color with a small soapy white head that faded quickly. Musty and dryish with grape and a hint of apple. Medium finish and body.

Very nice rosé character on the nose, good pink clear body but no foam. Flavour is fresh and bright rosé cider. Dry finish, full tannins on the tongue. Excellent.

A rosey pinkish cider with aroma of sweet apple jam, dark fruits, strawberry and grapeskin, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet apple jam with light acidity, light grapeskins, musty notes, light berries, pleasant and smooth. On tap at South Philly Tap Room.
