When we set out to make a rose cider, we knew we wanted to pay homage to our friends in the winemaking world. Unlike many commercial ciders that rely on food coloring or additives to achieve a “rose pink” blush, our rose gets its color and flavor from grape skins — just, as we believe, like a rose should. We start with fresh New England apples, pressed and fermented at cellar temperature; then age our cider on Syrah and Zinfandel grape skins to impart tannin, structure, and berry notes. We source grape skins from California because we cannot find a high enough quantity here in the Northeast. Together, these add up to a fun-loving but refined marriage of New England apples with traditional wine grapes, as tasty as it is beautiful.

On tap at Schilling Cider House - PDX, pours a clear pink with a small white head. Aroma brings out dry apples, pinot noir and musty grapes. Flavour is along the same lines, with apple skins and musty grape skins. Nicely balanced, with a bone dry finish. Good stuff.

Can from Covenhoven. Baby Duvel glass. Monday night football & my glass of Rosé. Clear, purple drank with red tones. Smells like good sangria: Grapes, apples, oranges & red wine. Taste is orange rind, bittersweet apples & most definitely not table grapes. Little bit of malic. Floral, tannic skin that makes you savor it. Juicy, thin, low carb & just a hair from being too sweet. One of the top rose style cider I’ve had in this rather new category. Again, bonus points for how cheap their cans are.

Can. Cranberry red with bubbles. Sweet apples and grapes in the nose, slightly vinous. Flavor is tannic wine, more grape than apple, nice fruit. Spicy, cinnamon. A bit sweet, though, which wore on my over the glass.

Very nice. Tart red/green/crisp apples/fruit peel/red grape/wine/skin/currant/berry/herbal/floral/yeast earth. Semidry/med carb. Lingering drying acid/tannins. No harsh/astringent. Very refreshing/well balanced apple/grapes. Great fruit complexity.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a glowing ruby red with almost no head. Lovely funky, wet hay nose with tart cherry skin and pink lady apple aromas. Balanced on the palate, some cherry flesh sweetness, tart apple and cherry and more funk. Dry finish with a lingering musty cherry skin and apple core note and yeasty funk. Solid stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Rosé on 13 Jul 2018 at 19:36 - Score: 7. Original review text: Funky yeast, tart cherry and pink lady apple aromas. Tart cherry on the palate, floral apple. sweet but some acidity that counters. Funk too
