Can, as 'Fujizakura Beer Project Extreme Pilsner'. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma: malty, grains, sweetish, light bread, some herbal hop character. Taste: moderate sweet & bitter, more sweet grains, light bread, herbal hops, warming booziness. Medium body with average carbonation.

Can from Seijo Ishii, Tokyo. Golden with a medium white head. Aroma of grain, malt and light citrus. The same in the taste, also some cardboard. Drinkable but nothing special.

Not ultra exciting but nice enough malty pile with light citrus hoppiness. Easy going.

Poured into a teku showing deep amber with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows a strong forward pilsner malty forwardness with light hints of floral and pine hops. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Light hints of floral and pine hops but a strong hoppy bitterness dominates from the first moment. Could be a bit cleaner but the mouthfeel is one would expect from Fujizakura heights.

Fujizakura Extreme Pilsner 6.5% 350¥ from Takashimaya in Namba, a slick looking orange gold, which I didn’t care for, with a thick fluffy light beige head, which I did. Big bready aroma with herbal notes, the beer has a full body and somewhat slick mouthfeel. The taste is bready malts but then a hearty dose of hops featuring herbal spicy notes then a bitter bite in the finish. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Darker golden color than the original. As I get with a lot of stronger pils, it has a slightly metallic character, which is pretty minimual with this beer so not bad. As expected the body is heavier and not as dry as the original. The hops are aggressive, but basically the beer is pretty well balanced. Decent.

Tap at BeerFes Osaka 2018 = 6/4/8/4/14=3.6. Grassy nose, grapefruit, lemon, zest, and a little corny DMS I fear as well. Full, rich flavor, rich malt, juicy hops. A bit too sweet but the DMS is hidden in the flavor and much better. Can from Yamaoka. Completely different from the summer keg. This is closing in on amber, orange-amber, clear, nice high head. Nose is quite malty, with some toast and caramel, grapefruit, herbs. Herbal, minty hops, rich bready, biscuity malt. Somewhat heavy, sweet, also piny and resinous. Very different, but nice.
