The usually peaceful St. Vrain River snakes out of the Rocky Mountains, winding mischievously towards our brewery. Named after Ceran St. Vrain, an 1800’s trapper and trader in the valley, St. Vrain is our version of a classic Belgian Tripel. Light in color and lightly hopped using Celeia hops, a touch of malt sweetness contrasts the warm spiciness hidden within. What at first appears benevolent can manifest into a mighty serpent in waiting.

22 ounce bottle into chalice, 2013 vintage. Pours fairly crystal clear bright golden amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pear, apple, lemon, banana, clove, pepper, honey, candi sugar, bread, floral, herbal, bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Awesome aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast esters with moderate malts; and good strength. Taste of pear, apple, lemon, banana, clove, pepper, honey, bread, candi sugar, bubblegum, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, banana, lemon, clove, pepper, candi sugar, bread, honey, bubblegum, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast flavors with light-moderate malt presence; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Tripel style! All around great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast flavors with moderate malts; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle @ Rackhouse Colorado Rare Beer Tasting. The reps claimed this was a 2001 vintage, but I think it was a 2009 vintage. Quite spicy, light clove, spritzy, spicy citrusy, a bit chewy yeasty nose. Super drinkable, lemon, light orange, spicy yeasty, light banana flavor. I wish they would make this baby again.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet candi and lemon aromas. Sweet honey upfront turning to dusty pepper in the dry lasting finish.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours gold with a foamy white head. Mild yeast/spice/kandi aromas with a touch of grassiness. Medium body with foamy carbonation. It starts sweetish, progresses something more kandi, then turns very lightly funky and more grassy. It develops something like light stone fruit flavors in a subtle way. Finishes comparatively dry.

Pours a not very pretty yellow with small head. taste is citrus, yeasty, and definitly some bubblegum that I noticed a reviewer said before me which is spot on. Pretty good flavors going on but very light and I can’t believe its 9% abv. refreshing spring beer

Courtesy of markwise. Pours hazy straw with micro thin white head. The aroma is full of fruity esters and grains. The taste is really smoother than I expected and gets to be a touch watery from time to time bringing sweet notes of grains, peach, apricot, plum and a bit of lemon and yeasty spice. Nice tasting brew.
