Our take on a rarely-seen classic. Start with one of our favorite lagers and add a boat-load of Mandarina Bavaria hops. A fine balance is struck between hoppy and refreshing.

Pours hazy straw into a Sam glass. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving scant lacing. Hay and biscuit aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and hay upfront turning to dry earthy hops in the lasting finish.

Can from AJ's. Pours a slightly hazy golden blond with an airy, high head. Nose is lemony minerals, light, clean bready malt, herbs and flowers. More like a southern Bavarian keller, possibly, but still fragrant and lovely. Tangy citrus flavor, bready malts, herbs, spices. Wow, this is excellent. Very different to the Saxony Lager I just had, but both bring me back to Bavaria. Lovely stuff, really. Brings back memories of Ganstaller’s Mandarina Bavaria masterpiece. Want more.

Tap at gingerman. Dusty golden pour. Nose is cerea lemon honey. Tastes of honey, grapefruit, lemon, cleaner detergent, tangerine and grass. Decent palate finishes touch sweet. Ok glad I finally grabbed a zero gravity keep missing them when pop up in city.

Draught at Worthy Kitchen, 3/18/16.
Deep golden-orange-copper body shows a moderate-to-light haziness and small, off-white head atop with moderate retention.
Smells the part for sure. Freshly dried herbs, fresh cut grass and some very light citrus. Sweet biscuity malts work their way in but don’t get too intense. Quite clean, with no alcohol.
Pretty straightforward noble hop character in the flavor has all the makings of light lemon, thyme, pepper and various other herbal qualities. Bitterness provides just enough balance to the lightly sweet malts, which add a nicely rich honey and light baked bread notes. Good attenuation and ample, mostly tight carbonation. Not the malt richness/complexity of the very best German examples, but pretty damned refreshing and satisfying. No idea how someone found this "way too sweet". It certainly is not bone dry, but then it’s not supposed to be.

On tap at Growler Garage.
Sample glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden yellow color with no head nor lacing.
The smell had some crisp sweet corn adjuncts. Light breadiness.
The taste was mainly sweet with the breadiness rousing a light biscuitiness strolling about. Light sweet bready aftertaste. Smooth finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed to be good for me.
Overall, I liked it for the most part. I’d have again.
