A rich body and an assertive roasted flavor make our Smoked Porter a natural cool-weather beer. A layered but balanced smokiness accentuates the black coffee, bitter chocolate, and deeply toasted character, as if you had roasted coffee beans over a wood fire. The thick, velvety body helps soften the attack, providing a fullness that awakens sweeter malt characteristics, and sets the stage for the earthy British hops and smoke character to wrap things up.

355ml can. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Aroma of roasted malt, peat, dark chocolate and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, earth, peat and coffee in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with an oily to watery texture and soft carbonation. Could use more body, but still pretty tasty.

Tap at Volo in Toronto. Black pour, with a large light brown head. Aroma is big notes of smoke, bacon, even some sausage. light soy, solid roast, but burnt campfire is also very prominent. Mouth feel and carb are solid. low bitterness, smoky, and savoury, with a woody, roasty finish with hints of cocoa. nice stuff.

Very dark with a thin fizzy tan head. Slightly smokey over roasted malts, dark chocolate, burnt malt, and slight vanilla. Medium bodied. A bit thin on the complexity front. Some smoked malt and cocoa, along with lightly roasted malt. Dry finish. It’s nice but a bit boring.

355mL can, pours black / deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out moderate smokiness, with toasted malt, and a bit of black pepper. Flavour is similar, with lots of smoked malt, toasted malt, and a hint of cocoa. Smoky and punchy. Decent stuff.
