Bottle, 2012 edition. Pours clear reddish amber with a medium tan head and beautiful lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, caramel, pine. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet and medium bitter. Very light astringence. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Quite tasty.

Bomber to pint. Reddish-brown color; citrus/hoppy/malt flavor that definitely resonates Bastard.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, caramel, and spicy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, and spicy hops, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Hm - not the marriage I’d thought would result.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of thome50. Pours a cloudy opaque amber with an off-white head. Medicinal, slightly skunky hop presence. Medium body, very typical US hop bill with biscuit and toffee and then a solid dose of hops, but somewhat muddled and never crisp. Ends bitter though. I suspect a not overly fresh bottle. 270812

Pours a fairly dark brown, with small head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor is a very strong, sweet, malty concoction, with some hop notes in the background--some bitterness and citrus. But the roasted malt really takes center stage in this one. Very good winter beer (in my estimation at least); one to drink by the fireside.

This pours clear deep amber with a tall, long lasting tan head. Rich malt aroma with just a touch of hops. The flavor is well balanced between the sweet malts and the hop bitterness. This isn’t as coarse as I expected it to be - maybe I’m becoming more worthy over the years. Most of the bitterness is in the finish, but overall, I drink a lot of IPAs that have more bitterness than this one.
