Rolling Thunder Imperial Stout is aged for 9 months in handmade Rolling Thunder Barrel Works barrels previously used to age our Dead Guy Whiskey. This one-of-a-kind imperial stout can be enjoyed right away or cellared for years. Either way it’s best shared among friends.
Dark with a creamy head, this imperial stout features rich notes of coffee and chocolate, combined with the vanilla and smokey wood flavors of whiskey-soaked Oregon oak.

Bomber. Pours black with lace. Nose is vanilla, caramel, coffee, light marshmallows, whisky. Sweet flavors of whisky and chocolate. Dry finish.

Can - fizzy black pour - a bit on the thin-bodied side for something so strong, but has a nice chocolate, bourbon, and oak richness to the flavor - some notes of crème brûlée and dark fruit - complexity and bourbon warmth builds as it warms - great flavor, just wish for a bit more heft.

Bought at Liquor Shed in Casper. Canned November 18th 2022.
It pours pitch black with a smallish head of tan foam, not much lacing but the foam that's there lasts for the session.
The nose has Whiskey, roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, hint of coffee. Oaky as well with some burnt malt notes.
The taste absolutely matches the smell to a T. Incredible. The alcohol is hidden quite well.

Can drunk 1/28/23. Wonder why this is separated out each year. Seems like the same thing (IS barreled on their whiskey). Dark. Large, tan head, moderate retention. The whiskey isn't too notable at first but as the beer warms/breathes, it does make its way out, pleasingly. Pretty restrained stout, otherwise with classic dark chocolate and coffee. Sweet vanilla-caramel suggest the high abv, but it's not coarse/raw/hot. Soft, very malty, tending sweet, but not overly so with a surprising levity of body and no syrup or intense viscosity. The caramel-vanilla-milk chocolate kicks things off and for a while I wonder where the whiskey is. But it slowly emerges then builds, with the end of the glass attending to a sufficiently pleasing amount of buttercream, spice and oaky richness. Well-balanced, not syrupy/sugary nor boozey. Very well-balanced and well-executed. Would never put this thing on 13.6% abv. Comes off more in the 9% range.

12 oz. can, pours black with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out whiskey barrels galore, alcohol, and medium roasted malt. Flavour is loaded with whiskey barrels, with light roast, a touch of vanilla, and lots of alcohol. Intensely hot, fairly thin-bodied, but the whiskey character is pleasant. Good bit far from top-tier.

Dark brown colour, near black. The aroma is chocolatey, bready, biscuity, and with vanilla. It's full bodied, moderately sweet, surely less sweet or syrupy than the current pastry boys; pleasant bready and biscuity elements, with quite some booze overall, and bourbon/vanilla.
Burning, but appreciated.

12 oz can. Pours a very dark brown with short fizzy head that settles quickly. Aromas of sweet chocolate, molasses, dark fruit, cola, oak and soft roasted malts. Flavors of charred and green oak, whiskey, acidic raisins, cola and toasted malts. A bit too much oak emphasis for me. I like the small can though for the ABV…
