Can shared with others. Pours a beer clear dirty amber brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has lots of bread with a slight sweetness and leafiness backing. Flavor lots of bread and light sweet grains with a slight leafy note supporting.

16 oz. can, pours a hazy rusted red with a small beige head. Aroma is crisp, with dry bready malt, plenty of nice hopping, and biscuity malt. Flavour is dry and bready, with lots of dry crusty bread, light-to-moderate bitterness, and crisp biscuity malt. Dry, bready, crisp and adequately bitter. Highly drinkable and tasty.

Rich and malty, offering up hearty notes of toasted bread, caramel, honey, cocoa, and a little nuttiness. Floral hops come on strong on the back end, growing a tad overzealous as they dry out the fade with a stark, bracing bitterness. Definitely an American take on the style, but not bad.

Bottle. Thanks Nevitt. Nice, caramel, but crisp, lightly hopped. Nutty, biscuits. Belgian almost. Like it.

Bottle from New Seasons Market. Pours kind of flat, medium brown, skin of head. Aroma is nutty roast grains. Taste is roasty, dry, bitter and nutty. Right where it needs to be.

Bomber. Dry, minerally nose, caramel, pencil lead. Smells infected, though not in a huge way. Nice malty flavor, chocolate, nuts, dry and minerally. Again the minerals are strong, and so is bitterness, hoppy as well. It has the dry, airy carbonation that along with the pencil nose seems like an infection. Still interesting, with nice malt and hoppy.

Aroma of rich caramel and slight chocolate. Walnuts. Almost an orange aspect hidden in the back. Pristine copper with a khaki head. Taste is malty, but there is a metallic aspect to it. Moderate bitterness. Lacks some of the full, rounded maltiness of the style.

Bottle. Pours clear hazel, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is malty, nutty, a hint of rye and smoke. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter with a sharp acrid bite, malty, hints of smoke, toast and a touch of caramel. Lingering sharp bitterness, bordering on metallic. Lightish body.

Draught at Lardo, Portland, as Heater Allen Altbier, 5.75% ABV
Dark amber to brown color, clean. A good lean caramelly brew, not exactly an Altbier bit pleasant, nutty.
