The last beer of the night and it was delicious, well balanced, the alcool has a perfect touch, similar than a Belgian tripel with more hop, 12.05.19, at Epalinges.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is resinous hops, sweet ripe tropical fruits, caramel malt, pine resin, apricot, orange, definite alcohol. Flavour is medium sweet with a bitter finish. Some harsh booze. Body is above medium. Not bad, bit too harshly alcoholic to be an IIPA winner.

Bottle backlog May 2017. Muddy, hazy orange body with a small, short lived off-white head. Aroma has sweet caramel malt and dry fruit. Flavor is sweet, malty, quite hoppy, sweet dry fruit and resinous. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste. Quite nice even if it’s really sweet.

Imperial IPA by Lervig, at Gents Bierfestival. Medium thick, egg-white, moussy head, hazy orangey peach blonde, almost amberish, lightly hazy with visible protein flakes here and there. Powerful bouquet of ripe mango, pink grapefruit, biscuit, egg yolk, spruce, tangerine, gin, peaches soaked in brandy. Sweet onset, lots of mango and granadilla, orange juice accent, sourish edges, thick oily mouthfeel, gently carbonated, bit vinous. Rounded biscuity malt sweet core, long and evidently hop-dominated finish, deeply bittering, very grapefruity both in taste and in retronasal aroma, the latter also adorned with orange peel, toasted onions and pine resin; blends in well with the expected glow of gin-like alcohol. Lervig never disappoints and apparently the IIPA style, basically double IPA kicked up a notch in alcohol strength to vinous, barleywine-like levels, has no secrets for them either... Delicious if you like this style.
