Tap at the first Keyaki. Nice. Aroma has banana wheat and a touch of lemon. Taste is good too, less banana, more cream, but fruity, maybe even tropical. quite crisp yet at the same time quite full in the mouth. Nice.

slightly sour mouth, light bodied. Lots of cloves and bananas. Not as cloudy as some other weizens, but very fine

Fake Weizen on tap at the Kyoto Beer Fest 2015. A light cloudy gold pour with a strong clove weizen aroma. The body is fairly watery while the taste is Weizen cloves but more bitter, like an American Wheat Ale. Is there wheat in this?

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a pale gold color with just a bit of haze and minimal head that dissipates quickly. Smells like a saison on the nose, yeast, pepper, lemon, light barnyard funk and clove. Light body with a watery mouthfeel. The lemon really stands out. Finish leaves much to be desired. Still an interesting hybrid beer somewhere between a saison and wheat ale but the body is just a bit too watery. Refreshing though and easy to drink. --- Beer merged from original tick of Fake Weizen on 06 May 2015 at 15:40 - Score: 7

Tap at Komachi. Pale golden color, hazy, with lace. Wheat nose, with spicy Belgian yeast. Wheat, malty, bready flavor, spicy yeast, a touch of citrus. Comes across more as an unspiced witbier than anything else. Nothing really wrong with it, just bland.
