Tap at Nakameguro. Aroma is light cinnamon and spice and not much else. Taste is a bit more distinct. Cinnamon again, and maybe bit of chilli bite, but not much. Fairly boring. Nothing really wrong with it, but nothing really right for me about it. Everyone else seems to love it. Maybe I got a duff one.

From tap at Baird Nakameguro Taproom. I was looking forward to this. Pours murky, dark orange, looks like homemade apple juice. Aroma is somewhat peppery and spicy - as this beer should have Sichuan peppers and sansho, it could be expected. Feels a bit grassy. Taste has also more of these peppers, leaving a nice tingling on a tongue. The beer has a proper body and this - maybe a bit raw - peppery aftertaste remains for longer. I think I rather like it, nice experiment, a beer that stimulates also intellectually.

Tap at Tadg’s. Not so pretty muddy brown, very cloudy, with a fine head. Nose is sansho, caramel, peppers. Sweet, spicy flavor, caramel, astringent spice finish. I guess it does what was intended but not very good.

Blind Monk on tap at CBB. It pours a muddy orange brown, it looks like a cask ale or the end of the keg. Not all that good looking. Bready malty graham with sweet fruity notes is the initial aroma. As it warms up peppercorns & vanilla also came through. Medium bodied with a raspy mouthfeel the taste is really interesting, you get an English mild malt profile complemented by peppercorns, orange & chewy biscuity malts. I was surprised that it was 7% as it is an incredibly easy sipping beer. Try this beer if you see it on tap.
