Can from the Japan shop near Jujo station. Served in a half-pint glass it pours a bright orange-gold with a fizzy white head that leaves a ring of soapy looking lacing behind. A malty sugary nosethat comes off somewhat artificial - looking at the ingredients list that’s been confirmed. Another frankenbeer. Medium bodied more palatable than the pseudo-beer soda pop Kirin Tanrei Platinum Double. The taste is sugary cloyingly sweet, corn, cornflakes, sugar and more sweetness. Yuck.

Can from Lawson’s. 5.5-6.5% this year. Served ice cold. Smells like corn, biscuits, honey, grain husks. Dark gold but thin looking, bubbly head. Somewhat sweet and malty, biscuits, bread. Ok malt character, actually, with just a touch of citrus hops. Thin as expected. Not as horrible as it could have been.

Oh what wonders the back fridges of a Hong Kong 7-11 can reveal. Has foamy head and a yellow body. Soft aroma of detergent and malt. Flavour is cloying rice sweetness with an oily mouthfeel. And here I thought this special seasonal brew might be, you know, good or something. Silly me.
