Keyaki. Opaque, golden blond orange colour, small white head. Aroma is bit citrusy, maybe lime and a bit funky. Belgian saison like herbal elements and a bit of tripel sweetness. Taste is equally mixed. More saison like, quite dry, but with a lightly fruity Belgian sweetness. Quite grainy too. I like this. Possibly feels a bit boozy though.

On tap at Raku. Pours a orangeish color with a large white head. A big bready funky nose. Fresh lemon, rice, earthy notes, sort of a funky note. Quite nice.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Big yeast-forward driven nose with some sake notes. More saison like notes come out as it warms. Average carbonation with a medium to medium heavy body. Sweet on the palate but not too cloying. The yeast really keeps things interesting. Slightly peppery on the finish. Very enjoyable for fans of Belgian styles. --- Beer merged from original tick of Gougin (強吟) on 04 Jun 2016 at 22:25 - Score: 7. Original review text: Very super saison like with pear on the nose. Sweet malts and a nice peppery finish that's warming. Great!

Golden color. Thin white head. Big, distinctive yeasty character with sweet malty backbone. The base beer is a bit off and cloying but I enjoy the yeast character.

A beer made with sake yeast. 6.5% On tap at Beer Komachi a nice bare bones place in a neglected shopping arcade near Higashiyama station. The beer pours a fairly clear gold with a fruity, yoghurty aroma. The taste clearly owes a great deal to the yeast, yoghurt lactic quality, tart fruitiness and a dry palate cleansing finish. Really interesting and probably one of the better sake-beer hybrids out there.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Orange-gold color, hazy, tall, fine head. Fruity nose, rice, malt, wheat, estery. Sweet, fruity, spicy flavor. You can taste the ginjo yeast. Lemon, melon, peaches, lots of orange, light bitterness, light funk. Interesting stuff. Too sweet to be super drinkable, but tasty.

Bottle - Sweet grains, ginger and light lemon. Almost clear gold with a thin white head. Light sweet grain, which is the rice, lychee and some apricot. With all the fruit this isn’t very sweet just flavourful. No bitterness and a rich mouthfeel. I don’t know if I really like this but it is an interesting beer that I would like to puzzle over again.
