Tap at the Gion Festival. Muddy brown with lace. Not pretty. Fruity iyokan orange nose, lemon, some caramel. Lightly spicy, tasty fruit, caramel, some hops. A bit of harshness from the malts. Refreshing and tasty summer drink but a bit rough around the edges.

Iyokan ale. 5% It pours a muddy amber with virtually no head - the staff did apologize for that so I guess they were having a problem with their draft lines. The aroma is nice fruity and fairly orange julep like. Med-light bodied with a silky mouthfeel. It has a solid orange flavor, chewy malts which is followed by a pithy bitter iyokan finish, maybe even a bit chalky. Not so good looking but damn tasty and refreshing.
