Having brewed in South Boston since 1987, it was probably only a matter of time before we decided to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day (Evacuation Day - coincidentally a holiday - in Boston). It’s a beer that we thought would pair well with the late winter as well: malty enough to stand up to the cold but balanced enough to hint at Spring.
Description - Harpoon Celtic Ale features a deep ruby color, medium body, and a balanced malt bill created by Irish Ale malt and a touch of roasted barley. Rich in tradition and sessionable in character, Harpoon Celtic is the ideal Spring seasonal. Available on tap: January-March.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours clear ruddy copper with a foamy 4 finger beige/tan head. Smoky malt aromas. Medium minus body with mildly creamy carbonation. Flavor is peaty for starters, but that washes out to toffee/caramel. Some bitter comes forth, but the finish is more sweet than not. It’s a nice beer - and it stands out. I’d say it’s sessionable.

Malt aroma ringed with blackberries. Clear copper, medium yellow slightly sticky head. Pronounced flavor of mulberry and blackberry with the stems, earthy, fruity, and malty. Filmy mouthfeel and a bit cloying in the end. Very nice and one of the better irish ales.

Pour is a dull red with a large white head. Aroma is sweet with some malts and chocolate. Flavor is a rich malt with a little bit of cherry after the swallow. Nothing great but like the brown its very drinkable.
