Bottle, 13%. Clear amber with big tan head. Aroma is malt, caramel, toasted, yeast, dark fruits, little candy sugar and dark fruits. Flavour is malt, caramel, toasted, yeast, dark fruits, warming, spices, anise, sweet with notes of alcohol.

Bottle. It’s a lighlty hazy golden beer with a creamy, light beige head leaving some lacings. The aroma is rather hoppy, with grass and pine cones, some caramel maltyness and a spiced touch. Sort of candyish. It’s rather sweet on the palate, full-bodied and warming, with a nice carbonation level. Caramel, some spices and a nice bitterness in the flavor, leading to a lasting caramel and sugary sweet finish. Too sweet and alcoholic this one. 140830

33cl Bottle poured into a Westvleteren chalice at home on 26th Apr 2014, my 6th and final beer in a little tasting evening with myself. The bottle was bought in ’De Bierboom’ Brugge on one of my visits in 2013. No sediment left the bottle on the initial pour, so I got an amber/copper bodied beer with a full, uneven blanket of creamy foam on top of the almost clear brew: carbonation bubbles clearly visible rising through the body. Floral, fruity and alcoholic notes from the nose. Robust alcoholic notes are also in the taste, sweet fruity flavours save the day, but this beer is too alcoholic for it’s own good. My sweet tooth took to it though and I liked the overall concept of an over sweetened fruity brew with such a strong alcohol base. Time for bed!

[33 cl. bottle][15 cl. sample][Split with Kogymo][White Pony Day @ ‘t Antwaerps Bierhuiske] Hazy orange with little head. Smells a bit infected in the nose (I was assured that all of the White Pony beers that smelled infected to me were not infected and what I am actually getting was the result of spices and yeast combo etc.), mouldy smell with very thick yeast and light sourness. Tasted of very thick Belgian yeast, mould, lightly milky, faintly sour, quite sweet, floral, boozy like most White Pony beers. Body also felt a bit weird, it was more enjoyable than that description sounds. It was okay.

#bfgm14, oranje/amber met witte kraag. Aroma van citrus, mout en zoetig. Smaken zijn redelijk zoet, behoorlijk alcoholisch, bittertje prikkelende en zelfs iets te hoge co2. Dense, rather fine cream-coloured head over cloudy amberish-orange beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Sweet, perfumed & alcoholic nose; citrus and herbs. Lots of yeasty esters, "hot" (meaning Belgian, in many opinions). Very alcoholic, caramle, citrus on liqueur; waffles with alcoholic syrup. White candi Sugar and maltsyrup, human sweat - "hot" again, and the esters. Very slick-oily, burning MF, good carbonation, alcoholheat. Medium to well-bodied. Expressly "strong" and expressly "Belgian". Result... too sweet and too agressive to be really enjoyable. Sipping ale, but enjoyment on the lowish side.
