Tap at the Harajuku taproom, labeled as 'Fire in the Belly, Doug's Red Ale'. Dark orange amber, slightly cloudy with small golden head. Aroma is spicy, astringent hops, bitter and cat pee. Taste bitter hops, quite malty, bit of spice. Prickle In mouth. Big bitter finish with a touch of citrus.

Bottle. Pours a bit hazy, darker and muddier shade of amber. Nice foam, stays but is not overflowing. Aroma is fresh, not too overpowering in any way. Some fruits and berries, bit of malt, nice touch from hop bitterness side. Taste reveals a strong body, lots of malts, kind of a rough and robust take. Then hops kick through, it becomes a bit lighter and bitterness is there as well. Simple but beautiful with its rustic charm. Not a beer for drinking only one glass - you can go on ahńd have several.

On tap at Nakameguro Taproom. Slightly hazy rust color with a nice medium-sized off-white head. Aromas of toffee, grass, cherry wood some pine resin. Taste is more of the same with a nice earthy quality on the palate. Nice slight bitter finish that is dry and refreshing.

Pours a hazy orange with some clumpy, white head. Nose of mild orange, fresh earthy honey comb, light pine, a little Bartlett pear. Flavor is honey, chewy honey comb, lightly toasted bread; orange, dried grain, a touch of tree sap, birchy. Clean, bitter finish.

Draught at Tadg’s. Pretty red color. Nice amber malt flavor, hops suffice. Nicely balanced and very drinkable without wowing.

med amber color. Lots of crystal malt, moderately hoppy, not so dissimilar from Red rose amber.
